Used Alarms

With this feature you can mark messages as used. This is important in case you have a big list of messages and do not use them all in a project. A result is that you exported list only contains the texts which are used. Of course only if you want. And also the merged document can only contain message descriptions which are used in case you wish it like that.

But how can mark messages to be used or unused? There are two way, one is the manual way and one is the comfortable automatic way.

The manual way

For changing the status of messages be used or not, first go to the page of the alarm list where you hopefully created a few alarms. On the right column you see a checkbox ☑️ in every row. If the checkbox is activated it is marked as used. If it is empty it marked as unused.

In case the used-alarm-column is not visible on the far right, please check the display settings ⚙️ right next to the search bar if the used-alarm-column is checked.

The automatic way

This way is much more comfortable once it works on your PLC-system. For that you PLC has to create a file with the file ending “.txt”. This file includes all messages numbers or variable names which are used in the software.

We may have a source code or a tool for your PLC which you can find in the Infosys rubric of your vendor. If there is nothing what helps you, please contact us to find a solution.

Back to the PLC created file: Every project in the PLC-Alarm.App have a tab called “Used Alarms” where you can upload new files and view/manage them. Next to the information who uploaded it at which time you can find the alarm numbers or variable names and a short information from the file.

With the button “Activate” you can overwrite the checkboxes ☑️ from the tab “Alarms” to have just the alarms activated like in the uploaded file from the PLC.

In case the used-alarm-column is not visible on the far right, please check the display settings ⚙️ right next to the search bar if the used-alarm-column is checked.

With this feature you can now export a text list with just the message text’s which are used and just a documentation with just the used message.
